Are y’all ready for a double dose of RuPaul’s Drag Race in the New Year?
It was announced today that not only are we getting a new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race on January 1, but just two weeks later, we are jumping the pond for the second season of RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K., set to premiere January 14 on the BBC Three iPlayer. Fans in the U.S. can catch the queens stomping into the workroom when it premieres the same day on WOW Presents Plus at 2pm ET/11am PT.
Santa called and said you can have one present early.

Ru, Michelle Visage, Alan Carr, and Graham Norton will return as judges for the new season, but there is already drama afoot. As NewNowNext previously reported, like pretty much every other television and movie production, filming for Drag Race U.K. Season 2 was postponed earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“In light of the spread of COVID-19, after much consideration, production on RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K. will be temporarily pausing filming both in consultation with and supported by the BBC,” a BBC spokesperson told Daily Mail back in March. “We will continue to review all productions on a case by case basis and will continue to follow the latest news and advice from the Foreign Office, World Health Organisation, and Public Health England.”
Filming was already underway at Pinewood Studios, but a source told The Sun that continuing production was “deemed far too risky” with contestants, talent, and production teams all on set. Shooting eventually resumed earlier this fall.
“Looking forward to better days! I’m happy to announce the triumphant return of RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K. Early in 2021, Season 2 will arrive with all the hope, joy, laughter and glitter you’ve come to expect from our brilliant queens,” said Mama Ru in a previous statement.
As if Drag Race Season 13 and Drag Race U.K. Season 2 weren’t enough, Drag Race U.K. has already been renewed for a third season, set to premiere later in 2021. Buckle up!
