10 Queer Looks We Can’t Stop Talking About From the 2021 Met Gala

From Nikkie de Jager's Marsha P. Johnson reference to Megan Rapinoe's very gay clutch, these looks worn by out celebs made the night.

After multiple postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Met Gala finally returned on Monday (September 13), summoning the hottest celebrities and public figures du jour for fashion’s biggest night out. The theme of the evening was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” in celebration of the Met Costume Institute’s forthcoming exhibit of the same name.

Plenty of LGBTQ+ artists and activists were in attendance, and they did not pass up a prime opportunity to stunt. Find 10 of our fave queer looks from the event below, listed in no particular order.

Petras really said justice for horse girls (and no, we’re not talking about purveyors of a certain party drug).

  7. Elliot Page’s green carnation

    Mike Coppola/Getty Images

At first glance, the Umbrella Academy star appears to be wearing a plain black suit, but the green carnation pinned to his jacket is actually an Oscar Wilde reference.

  8. Troye Sivan’s chic cutouts

Heeled books, sexy cutouts, and a leather cuff? We’re listening.

  9. Symone’s golden glamour
