In 2021, we are no longer putting in effort for men who treat us like shit. Just listen to Katya.
The RuPaul’s Drag Race legend has put her sometimes vulgar, always kooky comedy to music in recent projects like Vampire Fitness, her debut EP. Now, she is joining forces with Toronto-based singer and Drag Race super-fan Leah Allyce Canali for a feature on “I.D.F.T.,” a club banger off Canali’s new Light and Dark EP all about — you guessed it — douching.
The song opens with an improvised monologue from a pissed-off Katya recalling one time she “started the very intricate, painstaking process of doing the douche” while waiting for a hookup to arrive, only for the man in question to flake. “That motherfucker never showed up,” she laments as the bass begins to drop. Then, it hits her: “I douched for this?!”
In a statement to NewNowNext, Canali — who co-wrote “I.D.F.T.” with Canadian singer Tafari Anthony and worked with producer Laaain — describes it as a “Let’s Have a Kiki”-inspired club track and “an anthem for bottoms and women everywhere.” The song is ridiculous, relatable, and so on-brand for Katya, it’s unbelievable. I regret to inform you that “I.D.F.T.” is also a total earworm, so be prepared to hum this NSFW bop at any and all hours of the day.
I feel like a song celebrating all things Bottoms is exactly what @Grindr needs right now

“I.D.F.T.” isn’t Canali’s only collab with a drag queen from Light and Dark. On “Drag Reveal 1 (Tynomi),” she teams up with Canadian drag icon Tynomi Banks, who competed on the inaugural season of Canada’s Drag Race.
Canali was also inspired by Drag Race back in 2017, when she released a soulful cover of RuPaul’s “Kitty Girl.” It’s her world!
