The sun has set on Golden Hour; a new Kacey Musgraves era is upon us.
The country music queen and vocal LGBTQ+ ally has officially confirmed the highly anticipated follow-up to Golden Hour, her Grammy-winning 2018 masterpiece. Musgraves’ new album, Star-Crossed, drops September 10, and you can listen to the title track/lead single right now.
As if that weren’t enough, the “High Horse” singer will also be releasing the Star-Crossed visual album exclusively on Paramount+ on September 10. First RuPaul’s Drag Race, then Madonna, and now Kacey? Paramount+ is really coming for our wigs!
The trailer for the Star-Crossed film features Musgraves on a journey — based on her real-life split with her ex-husband — from holy matrimony to heartbreak. Along the way, she meets an eclectic cast of characters, including RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13 winner Symone, Hacks breakout star Meg Stalter, and fellow country crooner Orville Peck.
It’s been three years since Golden Hour, but Musgraves has kept busy in between albums. She embarked on her “Oh, What a World” tour, chased phantoms with Scooby-Doo and the gang, starred in an Amazon Christmas special, collabed on a candle with Boy Smells, and joined Troye Sivan for a dreamy remix of “Easy.”
In recent interviews, Musgraves has described the 15-track album as a “modern tragedy in three acts.” Prepare to fall apart and have your heart broken when Star-Crossed drops September 10. In the meantime, listen to the new single below.
