How Did Colby Keller’s Mother React When He Came Out?

"I wish I had a gun so I could kill you and then blow my own brains out all over this sofa."

Porn star and actor-model Colby Keller is the latest guest on Nico Tortorella’s podcast, The Love Bomb. During the very personal conversation, Keller spoke about everything from his religious upbringing, how he first got into porn and how his parents found out he was gay.

“I would go to the Barnes and Noble as a 15-year-old and buy gay porn magazines,” Keller told Tortorella. He kept his magazines and porn VHS in a box underneath the sink in his private bathroom, but one day the box was gone and he knew that his mother had found it.

Keller’s parents eventually confronted him.

“My father… he was really supportive,” said Keller. “He was crying. He was doing everything he could in the language that he possessed to try and comfort me and make it okay for me.”

His mother, however, did not take it so well.

“This great, upstanding Christian woman, she’s angry. She’s trying to read the Bible which I’m like, ’No, we’re not going to do this.’ She tells me, ’I wish I had a gun so I could kill you and then blow my own brains out all over this sofa.'”

Keller hasn’t called her “mother” since.

“I love my mother and she really is a beautiful human being,” said Keller. “But I stopped calling her ’mother’ after that. To this day I really don’t call her mother because of that incident.”

Keller’s story hits Tortorella hard and after a few moments of silence the host says “Whew! This is the part where we cry.”

Keller has made a name for himself outside of the porn world. Last year he was featured in a Vivienne Westwood campaign and guested on an episode of HBO’s High Maintenance back in August.
